Law
— Unnecessary or Unused
A philosophical dialogue on the nature of law
I was on my way to find an answer,
An answer of question,
That's hard to answer
Yet all should know.
I found an old man.
He was as wise as an owl
And also as old as time.
I sat beside him and asked,
"What is law?"
He opened his eyes.
He told me to ask my heart.
I did that and my heart said,
"It's to save good people
That law exists?"
Again he told me ask to my brain.
This time I said,
"It's to punish the bad,
That's why law exists."
The old man shook his body
And asked,
"What's the difference between your answers?"
I thought about that and strangely,
I found the both same.
He again spoke,
"It is law that is never used"
I took a step back.
"How can law never be used",
I asked.
He replied, like you said,
"It is law that is to save good people
And to punish the bad.
But have you ever seen that?"
I thought for a second
But no clear answer came.
He again spoke,
"Law is a necessary decoration
That's never used.
If a ruler is bad,
law is unused.
And if the ruler is good,
law is unnecessary.
But it must exist."
I found my answer and bade farewell.
I started a new journey,
A journey to make law unnecessary,
Not unused.
